A dot is an hour with no readings: the crossing was closed or CBP posted no wait. A closed lane counts as unknown, not as zero, so it never makes a crossing look faster than it is.

What’s the best time to cross?

6 am to 10 pm, local time. Up to 3 commercial lanes.

What is the FAST lane?

FAST (Free and Secure Trade) is CBP’s program for pre-approved carriers, drivers and importers, with lanes of its own. Here, over the last 30 days, FAST averaged 32 min against 34 min in the standard lanes.

A second source: Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s Border Crossing Information System measures truck crossing times with roadside readers at some ports in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. It measures something different from the wait CBP posts, so the two are worth comparing.

About these numbers

Copied Oct 29, 2026, 9:47 PM Michigan time

Officers at each port of entry post the commercial lanes’ wait about once an hour to CBP’s Border Wait Times system. A small Cloudflare Worker reads it every half hour and keeps each reading once; the last-30-days averages come from that record. The averages from the year before are CBP’s own. FAST lanes are for carriers enrolled in CBP’s FAST program.

Times are the crossing’s local time. A closed lane or a pending reading counts as unknown, never as zero. The board has every crossing right now and how it all works, and the averages are a CSV download. Esta página en español.
