MMA Card Shop
I buy UFC trading cards and sell them on CollX. To run it I built a private inventory app that tracks every card’s cost, fees and profit, and a deal scanner that searches eBay every ten minutes. This is the shop: what’s for sale, what has sold, and what the scanner finds.

The shop in numbers
Every card I buy goes into the inventory app with what it cost; every sale with its price and the marketplace’s fees and supplies, so profit is what actually lands, not the sticker price. The deal scanner
Every ten minutes the scanner runs a set of eBay searches through eBay’s official Browse API, about 2,469 calls a day, and holds each new listing against what it should cost. It keeps every fixed-price listing it sees as an asking price under the card it is (8,748 on file), so it knows what a card goes for even when there is no sale to compare. When something is worth buying, my phone gets an alert.

How it works
Updated Oct 30, 2026The inventory app. A private web app on my phone, built on a Cloudflare Worker with a D1 database and R2 for photos, behind Cloudflare Access. Every card goes in with what it cost (shipping and tax included); scanning a card identifies it against the set’s checklist. A sale records the price, and the app takes off the marketplace’s fees and the supplies it took (a penny sleeve or a toploader, a share of the envelope), so every card has a true profit. A deal check works out, before I buy, what a card has to sell for to clear my margin.
What the scanner watches. The fighters on UFC cards three to six weeks out, read from ESPN’s schedule, since that’s when their cards are cheapest before the fight; the sport’s most collected fighters every day; listings with a fighter’s name or a card word misspelled, which fewer buyers find; cards listed outside the card categories; and lots, priced per card. Broad searches read the newest 100 listings a look, the rest 25, and copies of one search share a single call.
What a card is worth. eBay’s API has no sold prices, so the scanner learns from asking prices: the middle of three or more listings of the same card (fighter, year, product, insert and parallel, print run, autograph, grade), or, with fewer, a careful lower quarter of the same fighter’s similar cards. A listing well under that is underpriced. The most to pay is that value less the selling fees and my profit; for an auction, the most to bid comes out of that after shipping and tax.
What this page leaves out. What any card cost me, the profit on any one card, the searches and limits the scanner uses, and anything that could still be bought. This page is a copy, made once a day, of a separate public summary that never has those in it.
